March Round Up

Written October 2017

It’s a good thing I took pictures, because otherwise I’d forgotten that we went to the Provo City Center Temple Cultural Festival, held at the Marriott Center. I remember pulling up and wondering if we were allowed to bring a baby, and almost not going in because our tickets said something on the back about not being able to accommodate children. Luckily we tried and were easily let in and then surrounded by kids. I remember the musical performances being fantastic — especially a rendition of “Give Said the Little Stream” by a group of teenage (or college-age) boys.

If we did anything else fun this month, I don’t remember. But clearly I took lots of cute pictures of our sweet girl. Just can’t get enough of her at this smiley age:

Playing with a puzzle

Written October 2017

These get their own post because they’re so cute! And it was too hard to choose just one or two. I remember this day pretty well, actually. Though I adored my sweet girl at this age, I often got bored and lonely throughout the day. This day, though, Lila was really interested in playing with toys and it showed me a glimpse of my fun future playing with her. I’m happy to report that I rarely if ever get bored any more, and playing with her gets better every day.

Lila loves her Daddy

Written October 2017

These two have always been such good buds! In March, we went to Marina’s hockey game in Provo, browsed some antique thrift stores in downtown Provo, played at the park, decorated Easter eggs and then rammed them into each other on the kitchen table, visited the outside of the newly finished Provo City Center Temple, and played at home.

February photo roundup

Written October 2017

I just commented to Lance that I’m so glad we don’t live in the basement in Utah anymore. Especially this time of year, when it gets darker earlier, it’s nice to live in our bright, full-of-windows, sunny California townhouse.

These photos do a good job of summarizing how we spent our time at home — on a blanket on the ground next to the fireplace. This was command central where we changed diapers, changed clothes, played with toys, etc. The two main blankets were made by Mandi (the red one with small dark flowers) and Mom (the red one with larger, Hawaiian looking flowers).

I took hundreds of photos and narrowed it down to these, which I realize is still a ton:

Sunday Best

Written in October 2017

Lila was (and still is) so fun to dress for church. The navy and red dress is from Mary Burke, an Irish woman Lance baptized on the mission. She mailed it and some cute socks and mittens for Lila when she was born.

Also, though it seems like I posted ALL the photos of her in the green and white striped dress, there were probably 100+ more to choose from. Even a year later I can’t pick — they’re all so cute!

Cousins at the Cabin

Written October 2017

If I remember right, Marcie and Linc didn’t come to the cabin for Christmas or New Years. Instead, they came in February. My work and Lance’s school prevented us from joining them full-time, but we did go up to the cabin for a weekend and then meet them in SLC for dinner one evening before they left.

We went outside

Written October 2017

These photos (surprisingly) make me homesick for snow! I’m so glad we had the opportunity to live in Utah when we did. I don’t know if we’ll ever live there again, but we’ll hopefully always have a reason to visit.

Obviously January was filled with plenty of outdoor adventures. I don’t remember going skiing so soon after Lila was born, but I must have because I took the shots of Lance below on New Years Day at Solitude.

Also pictured: A leisurely stroll in the snow (thanks to the Bob stroller Dawn bought us!) up Spanish Fork Canyon, a random picture of our cars covered in snow (I don’t miss cleaning them!), another Sunday stroll — this time at Salem Pond, a snowy walk up South Fork canyon along a stream, a snowy walk up Provo Canyon to Bridal Veil Falls with my co-worker/friend Sammy Jo Hester, and our attempt at snow-shoeing along the Provo River up the canyon near our basement apartment. I remember we rented snow shoes from the BYU Outdoor Store but we didn’t last long. It was cold, they were cumbersome, and it started to snow pretty heavily only a few minutes into our jaunt. Still — we love the outdoors and were determined to introduce our new babe to the beautiful world, despite the cold! She stayed warm strapped to Lance in a baby carrier, and usually slept the entire time.
